A description of the Bagel[]

A bagel (also spelled beigel) is a type of bread, traditionally shaped by hand into the form of a ring from wheat dough, roughly hand-sized. This dough, which is made with yeast, is first boiled for a short time in water and is then baked. The result is a dense, chewy, doughy interior with a browned and sometimes crisp exterior, depending on bake type. Bagels are often topped with seeds baked on the outer crust, with the traditional ones being poppy or sesame seeds, although there are many variations. Some also may have salt sprinkled on their surface, and there are also a number of different dough types such as whole-grain or rye.

Bagels have become a popular bread product in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. They are especially popular in cities with large Jewish populations, many with their own ways of making bagels. Like other bakery products, bagels are available (either fresh or frozen, and often in many flavor varieties) in many major supermarkets and shops in those countries. Some shops even devote themselves entirely to selling bagels, notably the ones in Brick Lane, London.

As you can see, the Bagel is a very versatile and appealing foodstuff, with many possible tasty guises.
